Many opportunities
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog! I know I haven’t written anything for the past two weeks because there was not much going on in my life. However, I have finally collected enough information to write about. So let’s start!
Firstly, there are a lot of project and club selections going on. You can only select one club in a year and I haven’t selected it yet. Well, the teachers were supposed to send it but they didn’t so I don’t think there’s something I can do about that. I want to enter FRC Robotics club because it’s related to the topic I want to study in and also I have been a robotics team member for three years so why not continue it? They said that they’ll only take one member from last year’s FLL team but I believe it’s a bit stupid, like, really? Taking just one experienced person and taking new three people?
Other than that, I have been selected for an exchange programme with England! We’ll be in groups of three, one ninth grader, one tenth grader and an foreign. We’ll be making presentations each month. At the end of the programme, 4 people will be going to England! I really hope I will be one of them. The foreign person is really sweet and her name is Lily, she likes programming too! I hope we’ll be good friends.
In addition to that, one of my teachers have just offered a place in Tübitak and Teknofest. I really hope we qualify for the presentations week. Only the best can go there and then there’s Ankara if we win that. I have no idea about the project, the teacher has taken my number but she still hasn’t texted me, I wonder if she forgot about me. I mean, to be honest, the amount of competitions I am wanted for from the first couple of weeks is a good amount considering none of these teachers knew me 3 weeks before.
Moreover, I went to a conference where there were a lot of intellectual people such as Aziz Sancar, Steve Wozniak, Sunay Akın, Olympics people etc. I really believe it was a mind-opening two days for me. We’ll be given certificates as well from the conference.
Additionally, I want to enter more competitions to be honest, or programmes. I mean, four is a good amount but I still need to pass other people who I will compete with with my CV. I am also learning Python right now and I hope I will finish the course in Sololearn this week or something like that. After that, I will finish the course in Codecademy. I had a break from Codecademy because it was a bit too complicated for the people who are complete beginners. At least right now I understand what it’s trying to say in Codecademy. After I finish those courses however, I don’t know what I will continue to do. Maybe I’ll start to another course in Python or I will choose another programming language. I may ask about it to my computer science teacher after I finish both the certificates. Plus, even though I will be finished with the course, I still need to practice it so that I can use it. But maybe, I won’t continue with it because I think in the last semester, they will teach us how to use Python so I can just learn another language.
Furthermore, I’m trying to learn Spanish and German at the same time and I usually mix things up as both of them are similar languages. For example, instead of saying “buenos dias”, I sonetimes say “Guten morgen” and they’re two different things. I mean, yes, they both mean “Good morning.”, but still. My goal is to know and speak 4 languages at the end of 11th grade. I already have two, and another two would be good. When I improve my other two languages more, I will try to write a blog just depending on the things I know.
On top of these, I have read a book that is in Turkish and I may or may not write a book report on my blog about it, I’m not sure. But if I decide to write about it, it will be in Turkish because the book is a classical Turkish book called “Kuşlar da gitti”. I can’t really say I read that many books, and this was an obligatory book that I needed to read and I thought why not just write a blog about it in my next blog, so that’s what I’ll be doing probably.
By the way, we needed to make a digital project based on the book. Normally, it needs to be an individual work but because our teacher is a bit too good, so he allowed us to make it together as a class. We’ll be making a threatre and I wrote the script all by myself. And well, I didn’t expect that but my classmates and my teacher (even though he didn’t read it probably) liked it a lot. I don’t think they made any changes. I didn’t know I could write that good to be honest. Maybe, I’ll show the report I wrote to not my teacher but another Turkish teacher that is the teacher of the D class. I’ll see what I can do.
Meanwhile, there was actually two more offers for the whole grade, there are two newspaper clubs but I didn’t even apply them, I mean presumably, I feel like they would choose me if I applied but didn’t ‘cause I don’t believe in my writing skills, they may be good in writing scripts but a newspaper all highschool will read? No. Not a chance. There are far more talented ones than me, that’s for sure. But, the ones they took as a member in the newspaper… is a bit concerning. They took one boy and one girl. And the girl is okay, I love her, but the boy is a bit problematic. He talks too much, asks too much and overall I don’t think his writing skills are that good. But of course, this is my opinion.
Anyway, this is all for these two weeks, I’ll see you in either another blog or in the book report. Until that, see you soon!
